Checking how current the table is

How to read the eCFR up-to-date and amendment dates, how the FGExperts refresh works, and what to record before you certify a size figure.

Every page on FGExperts shows when the figures were last checked and the dates eCFR reports for 13 CFR 121.201. This guide explains those dates and what to do with them.

Two dates, two meanings

eCFR reports an "up to date as of" date for the title, which is the most recent date the electronic text has been checked against the official source. It also reports a "last amended" date, which is the date the section itself was last changed. A figure can be current as of today and still unchanged since an earlier amendment. Record both dates when you rely on a figure.

How the FGExperts refresh works

A nightly job requests the section from the eCFR API, parses the construction rows, and checks that subsectors 236, 237 and 238 are present, that required codes are present, that the row count is in a plausible band, and that every threshold is a number. If any check fails, the job keeps the previous snapshot and the site shows a notice. The job records a dated change entry only when a figure, a row or the amendment date changes. The machine-readable status is at /size-standards/status.json.

When the notice appears

If the last successful check is more than 30 hours old, every page shows a notice that the figures may be out of date. The notice is shown on purpose. A tracker that stops and keeps looking current is worse than one that says it has stopped.

Before you certify

Open the section on eCFR, record the amendment date and the figure in your file, and keep a copy of the page. Only the SBA or the contracting officer can determine size, and they will work from the official text in force at the relevant time.
